Autumn is one of my favourites seasons of the year, so I took the Autumn tag challenge to share with you my fall favourites set to me by AimsysAntics and Thoughts with N. This Q&A was a lot of fun and I enjoy writing this kinds of posts because they give you a chance to get to know me better. How many of my fall favourites do you agree with?
What signifies the start of Autumn for you?
The first thing I notice is the silver birch in our garden starts to shed it’s leaves, with rising global temperatures you can’t really tell by the weather anymore but the leaves always follow a pattern.
What is one candle you MUST light every fall?
I love candles throughout autumn and winter, I don’t really like pumpkin or autumnal scented ones though so I’ll be lighting up my white company lime and bay candle throughout the autumnal evenings.
When you think of Fall, what does it remind you of?
Autumn reminds me of pumpkins and the years I spent sitting on the kitchen worktop when I was little carving pumpkins with my mum and brother. It’s a tradition I’ve carried on for years…. except I don’t sit on the kitchen counter now because that would be weird.
What is your all-time favourite Fall/Halloween movie?
Oculus it’s a horror film with Karen Gillian. Go watch it. I’ve seen it twice, once at the cinema and the second time with my old housemates. The bit with the light bulb makes me wince every time but no spoilers….
What is your favourite Autumn scent?
Cinnamon, every time I smell it I’m instantly reminded of Autumn and the run up to Christmas. It gives me this warm fuzzy feeling.
What Halloween costume do you have in mind?
I won’t be dressing up for Halloween this year, but if I was I’d dress as a dead cheerleader again – because I have the costume and I like to save money.
What is your favourite Fall trend?
100% pinafores and wolly jumpers in burgundy and rusty oranges. I adore autumn fashion. Oh and boots and my pom pom hat. I feel the cold a lot during the autumn-winter months so I find it really important to keep as warm as possible.
When you think of Fall, what drink comes to mind?
Pumpkin spiced lattes. Pumpkin everything! The beautiful amber and red coloured leaves and the chance to walk through forests admiring the spectacular colours.
Are you a fan of pumpkin spiced lattes?
I used to be a massive fan as you’ll see from my Autumn post admittedly though I haven’t actually had one yet this year. I went to go and get one last week as Starbucks has started doing lactose free friendly ones… but they had all sold out. Hopefully I have at least one before Autumn is over although hot chocolates are my drink of choice at the moment.
What is your go-to fall beauty product? A must-have staple?
I’m not really a big makeup fan and I pretty much wear the same eyeliner and mascara year round, so it’s hand cream for dry skin or lip balm I guess.
What is your favourite comfort food to enjoy in the colder months?
Chicken soup. It cures all illnesses and my mum makes a gorgeous homemade version.
Do you prefer apple-pie or pumpkin pie?
Apple! Although I’m thinking about trying to make pumpkin pie this year – so watch this space!
What is your favourite Autumn colour?
I have two… is that cheating? Burgundy and mustard yellow. A lot of my wardrobe is made up of these two colours.
Do you have any fall traditions? If so, tell us all about it!
Every year I go to a pumpkin patch with my mum and dad to select our pumpkins, we enjoy pumpkin soup and ride out into the farm on a trailer pulled by a tractor. That and going for autumnal walks to gather chestnuts to roast at home.
What TV show, new or old, are you looking forward to in the next few months?
I’m really looking forward to finally being able to watch the second series of Jack Whitehall’s travels with his father, he always manages to make me laugh. I also love the Good Place and Riverdale on Netflix they are very addictive and I love binge watching them. But you can’t go wrong with Strictly.
What is your favourite Autumn Activity?
Again, I have two I love Autumnal walks but there’s something so fun about carving pumpkins. I like challenging myself each year to make something different. I also love Autumn because It means I can go watch Ice Hockey – a fun sport to watch for sure.
Are you a bigger fan of Bonfire Night or Halloween?
Without a shadow of a doubt – Bonfire Night. I love the smell of the gunpowder and the whole historical connection behind the event. The rhyme, the fireworks and writing my name in sparklers, I can’t wait for bonfire night I’ll probably go to two this year or possibly three!
Where is your dream destination to visit in the Autumn?
I would love to visit Japan or Boston or even Quebec in Autumn just to see the stunning autumn foliage. Plus those places are incredible.
Do you always forget about the clocks going back?
I don’t forget I just try to pretend its not happening, I hate it when the dark evenings crawl in… no more sitting in pub gardens or running during the evenings.
When do you usually start prepping for Christmas?
Kinda embarrassed to admit this but… I’ve started prepping already. But only because I like to split my salary out to ensure I can still save throughout December and not all of my disposable income goes on presents and December social events. I’ve sorted my boyfriends presents out already (maybe just one more little thing to get), so my November paycheck will go on my parents and my brother and sister-in law. I don’t have as many people to buy presents for nowadays so that makes things slightly cheaper. I adore christmas films and wrapping presents but even if I’ve bought a gift I won’t wrap it until the 1st of December at least!
The moment of truth.. Is Fall your favourite season?
YESSSS!!!! Yet sadly I’m recovering from a chest infection currently so can’t enjoy autumn as much as I normally would like to. But I also LOVE Christmas and Spring.
So what are your fall favourites?
